Default axel back vs cat back??

Alright, I am new to the game, but I am really interested in modifing my car. v6 00 accord 2dr. My main question is deals with axel back, cat back mufflers. I know what they refer too, but what is the difference? How are they different? What is gains diff? And additional which is better for a pretty much stock accord. (I already got a cold air on it but thats it.) I really dont plan to much more than just add these mufflers. thanks for the help.

Axle back is for noise only. Virtually no performance gains.

With a catback you are typically enlarging and straightening the entire length of exhaust pipe, and it will show some minimal gains by itself. In order to really make power, you'll want new headers, highflow cat, and a catback exhaust.

Basically I am look to get either apexi N1 mufflers or thermal research and development C120L-C120R exhausts? Which one would u get? I like the thermal ones because I can directly bolt them on and I dont need to get new tubing.

i want to say that axle back's do make peformance gains, since i have had axle backs and full cats. although the full cats make more power, axle backs have the same piping as the catbacks that's connected to the muffler and also are derived from full cat exhausts, ie 5 zigen or thermal axlebacks, but have flanges that would bolt onto stock b-pipe. do u get what im saying???

please go with a full cat back exhaust
axle backs generally make a lot of noise and minmal gains
the greddy evolution series or the 5zgen fireball will get a few ponies to the wheels

we do custom mandrel full catbacks and the gains over axle backs are far greater, like mentioned the axle back is a cheaper alternative but produces more noise then gains. its a small upgrade but most of the air flow will still be conjusted in the front part of the system

The Apexi N1 is a LOUD exhaust, so just be prepared for it.

which to get depends on your budget

if your a student with minimum flow, get a custom cat back with a magnaflow exhaust from your local muffler shop, thats what i got

but if you big money student or just got money up your ass, go for the greddy or apexi or whatever you want cause you can afford it richie rich:thumbup:
