Default Ecu question

If you were using a 2000 ex ecu to run a 2001 GSR would it throw codes? Or what could you use to run a GSR swap taht wouldnt throw any codes besides the GSR ecu because it has the immobilizer on it. I need to pass emissions but right now im using a OBD1 GSR ecu and that wont pass because when they plug me in it doesnt respond. If i used a SI ecu or an LS ecu out of a 2000 or 2001 where it was OBD2b as well would i throw any codes? I only have a few more weeks before the deadline is up then i have to shell out major cash for a waiver. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly apprectiated. Thanks
Matt

You ill most likely throw codes, the best ecu for a car is the one it came with. If you had to i would say that the si ecu will be the best.

i only need something to pass emissions so it will only be in the car for a few mins. So you think my best bet will be the SI ecu? Anyone have any other ideas if that doesnt work?

a 99 gsr ecu wont' have the immobilizer, that or an LS ecu should work fine.

Remember though, OBD2 is going to be looking for a 2ndary O2 sensor, and the whole EGR system. If it doesn't see this functioning it will throw codes that will fail your ass. Also little trick, wait in the parking lot for 5+ minutes with the ecu unplugged, or with the engine ecu fuse pulled, let any residual codes clear out, plug it back up and get tested immediately, it might take a couple minutes for codes to show back up.

Do you have options for who you get to go to. Go to the place with the DUMBEST ppl possible, with the OBD1 computer. They'll plug in, it'll fail horrible, and hopefully, they'll just put your ass on the sniffer.... I have actually heard that this is protocol in some testing facilities.
