Sorry to bust your balls guys. I came to the US when I was 22 and only driven motorcycles all Japanese made. When I started driving cars I only driven automatics both imports and domestics. Here are the numbers of the cars I've owned and driven in the past 21 years. 83 Olds Cutlass Cruiser 3.1 V6 AT . 183K miles until I got Tbone during 13 inch of snow in Chicago. 90 Chevy Cav, 2.2 I4 AT, 213K, no rebuilt or repair. Finally, had to part w/ it when I moved from MO to MD. Don't want to tow it behind the U-Haul. 96 Chevy Cav, 183K miles AT, wife wanted more sporty and traded to 99 Grand Am 2.5 AT. 118k miles til an 85 year old man driving an 88 Olds got his foot stuck in between the break and gas pedal and rammed behind my wife's Grand Am. We currently have 92 Honda Accord 2.2 I4 AT w/ 248 plus K miles w/ original tranny. 2000 Chevy Malibu 3.1 V6 AT for my daughter in college w/ 126K miles w. original tranny. My wife is now driving 2002 Dodge Neon 2.0 I4 AT w/ 94K miles. I believe it's all a matter of preference. Both will be reliable depending on who's using it and how they take care of it.

Honda automatics are historically pretty shitty in operation and reliability, and even more-so when compared to their silky manual gearboxes. In my mind, a manual is a no brainer.

I would love to agree w/ you but I can't. I would say about a million miles that I have driven are all from the cars w/ AT. You can try arguing w/ hundreds of millions of westerners and Japanese that are driving auto shift and see if they would agree w/ you.

We tried both the Sport Auto with paddle shifters and the true Manual before purchase... and got the Manual.

Honda auto-boxes ON 4 CYLINDER ENGINES have been reliable...the 6 cylinder cars with automatics, less so.

Know of two people that bought automatic Fits, then traded in for a Manual within six months.

Yes, it's your call...

Even the 4-cylinders pose some issues. '98-02 Accord and '01-05 Civic automatics are known for issues.

manual gets better fuel economy, and is easier to maintain. just change the clutch every xx,xxx miles and you should be good. with an automatic, when it goes, it goes. and you gotta replace the whole transmission. costs way more $$$$
