Im getting ready to order a JDM B18C from HMO. I was wonder what kind of quality and condition should I expect from a motor that old. It will be going into my 1999 Civic EX.

 

Why not order an obd 2 gsr swap? It will make your life easier and the engine will have less wear.

Steve from hmo inspects all before he sells them. And if you do experience a problem or broken part he will do his best to resolve it.

 

technically a obd2 swap is not going to make anything easier than going OBD1. The reason why is that all i have to do is to run the OBD1 is just buy a OBD2B To OBD1 harness and I am set. However if i wanted to go OBD2 I would have to get a 1999-2000 OBD2B motor such as my car in order for it to link up right which in some cause there are still issues with check engine lights. As far as mileage, I was told that a 1995 JDM motor will basically add up equal to the same about of miles as a average 1999 USDM. I know right now that my 1999 civic has 60k on it so pretty sure that the JDM motor will more than likely not have more miles than my car. Since Steve at HMO sells quality motors im really not going to stress the motors age so long as it runs in good condition.

 

yeah, if smog isn't an option, I prefer OBD1, It might not be as simple as just the conversion harness, but it shouldn't be too difficult either.

But I prefer OBD1, cause I chip ecus, and I think it makes more power, even on a stock ecu...
