B16 block queation.
Me and my hommies were talkin about engine swap and my friend with a 96 gsr said that he was gonna put a b18c head on a b20 block( It may have it backwards, it may be a b20 head and b18c block )wich would make it so much faster. He said i should get a b20 block(or head) for my crx with a b16a in it. Will this help the cars hp at all and would it be costly and hard? sorry about the confusion but I dont know much about blocks with different heads. Thanks
It's called a CRVTEC or B20VTEC, putting a VTEC head on a non-VTEC block. It works the same way as an LS/VTEC. Use the Search function, this comes up about every 10 minutes on the Integra board.
forget about that....just get a b16 or b18 and leave it at that. there aren't too many successful swaps done like this. some WORK, but not like just getting a stock engine and putting it in. the reason people do that is cause it develops similar torque of the larger block, like the b20, and similar top-end like the b16 or b18. i personally wouldn't mess around with it....i hear making sure that the extra oil gets around is a pain. just what i hear.
u idiot u dont know the diffrence from heads to blocks b20s arent vtec! of course u would but a vtec head on their. anyway sorry for the anger but my buddy just swapped a b20vtec into a civic 4d fully built kept it looking sleeper. guess what boys its running 12's
By changing the block to B20's you won't gain much for HP wise. But for torque you will increase around 33% over B16a and 11% over B18C (if I remember correctly. That's what many people do this swap looking for, torque. If you get the extra money, sleeve the block so it can handle high rev.
