u regrind the ports on ur intake manifold to the head of the engine, and u polish the sidewalls of the individual ports to decrease resistance of the passing air, in a nutshell, u can also do this with ur exhaust and is used alot when the ports dont match up perfectly. and welcome to the board

Another helpful piece of information about porting/polishing, is that it is generally done in combination with a more aggressive camshaft to improve air flow in and out of the engine. There isn't much use in porting/polishing a head that uses a stock cam, except maybe removing burrs and casting marks.

yep and in aligning a intake or exhaust manifold that wasnt meant to be attached to ur block.

if you have a type-r i wouldn't worry about this especially if you don't know what it is. type r's come ported and polished from the factory
