Hmmm... good point. Are you sure the obd1 conversion harness doesn't jump the wires so that the circuit would be closed? Note that this could be hard to see unless the conversion harness is bare wires!
If not... then it's just that the obd1 ecu doesn't look for that particular circuit when calculating the total electrical load.
