Is a B18C1 slower than a turbo D16
My car (99 EX civic with greddy turbo kit) got stolen in the hotel parking lot and they took the intercooler, the bluebox, messed up the interior, and I don't know if the turbo is messed up. The honda dealer is finished with there part and I am having it towed to Autologic next week while I'm in Dallas (with no computer access
). If the turbo is messed up I am thinking of putting a GSR B18C1 engine instead of going back with a turbo kit since there would be no outward clue that I have something high performance under the hood and thieves wouldn't target it again, hopefully. I do plan on getting a good alarm. The car ran a 15.1@92mph before the exedy clutch and fidanza flywheel. Granted I did plan on doing the V-afc hack and running 8psi, but is the GSR swap similar in acceleration to a stock greddy kit D16? Thanks for any input, I'm just weighing out options in my head

My '92 CX/B18C1 hybrid went 14.4 at 96 so I'd say they'd be somewhat even in overall power. There will be signifigant difference in power delievery though. With your turbo D16, you most likely had no bottom end till the turbo spooled, then it pulled. With the larger displacement engine, your car will pull harder without as many rev's. My hatch could pull up hills in 5th that my coupe (SOHC VTEC with just bolt on's) had trouble maintaing it's speed in 4th. Weights a big issue with those too, but I think you'll be very happy with a B18C1. Seeya.

What's the weight on a 92 cx, like 2100lbs? I think my EX is like 2500lbs so a 14.4@96 would probably be about a high 14 in the low 90's. The GSR engine does appeal to me and I think I wll go that route if my turbo is messed up.
Your EX is definately heavier, my CX was about as light as you can make it. Did you ever find out about the turbo or decide what your planning to do? Seeya.

I am finally geting my car to the shop saturday, sorry I was in Dallas for school all this week. If the turbo is good I'll go with hondata, forged rods, pistons, blockguard, spearco intercooler, etc . But if the turbo is messed up I don't know, waiting til Autologic calls and determines if it's stil good.
h: The insurance company ended up paying the full amount for the turbo kit and install that I had receipts for.

Cool, sounds good. Good thing with the insurance. My '92 CX was smashed when a woman ran a stop sign and pulled out infront of me Dec. 20th. Her insurance finally paid up and I got a check last Friday (took 6 months and I had to take her to the district justice).
Might consider still doing a B-series swap and keeping your turbo? A properly built D16Y8 will pull pretty hard though. Seeya.
