Default PLEASE HELP w/ valves

I recently adjusted my valve clearance on my 93 Prelude 2.3. I did it to my manual's specs which was .007ex and .004int. I double checked the clearances then took it for a drive. It ran fine, but when I popped the hood after it was warmed up, it smelled like something was burning. I am worried that I might have done the clearance too tight burning the valves.
Any input would be great.

It's probably the oil coming from the leaky valve cover gasket when you pulled it off to make the valve lash adjustments - did you install a new one afterwards? If so then it could just be residue burning off the exhaust.

What residue would be burning off the exhaust (valves?) Also, it is closer to the smell of burning plastic, than it is too oil. never smelled this before.

take a look around under the hood, possibly some burning rtv silicon if u used it for the gasket material, a hose that is somewhere it shouldnt be, could be a lot of things, and most often its something unrelated that is just touching something hot, check out ur radiator fins for any signs of duct tape, ur exhaust manifold and intake manifold, check all ur vacume hoses, make sure everything is as it should be, also check the seal of ur valve cover clean everything off with some type of cleaner and check for oil leaks.
