Toyota tranny question
I know this is a honda forum but I need some help with my daily driver toyota. It's a 1990 corolla sr5 gts,5-spd(121,000miles). When I put the car in 5th gear it pops out. It's fine until you give it gas. The more gas you give it the harder it pushes until it completely comes out. I can hold the shifter with my hand and it is fine. I can fells it pushing whenever I give it gas. It is cable linkage with a hydro clutch. It's needs a new clutch and I wanted to fix this problem at the same time. Any input would be very helpful
Make sure the tranny fluid is at the proper level. Most transaxle 5 speeds have the final gear up and away from the lubrication source, so the 5th gear synchro can be run dry, causing enough friction to force it out of gear and/or wear out the synchro.

I believe the sr5 signafies it being a 2dr and the gts is the higher model of the sr5 making it an sr5 gts... never the less it is in fact a gts. I'm pretty sure the share the same tranny anyway, just different heads.
