Default Wanna do an engine, swap, but theres a problem

My bro recently crashed his integra GSR and the cost to fisxi it is about $2,000. He wants to buy a 92-95 civic hatch or a 95-98 civic hatch and put his engine and suspension in that car. All is possible but here's the thing, my dad told him it's illegal to put an engine with a higher liter ( 1.6 D16>> 1.8 B18...). My dad aslo would'nt want him to cary through with this swap because he does'nt approve of his racing, he legally races though (my dad AND bro).

So the question is... in Cali, is it illegal to put an engine with a higher number of liters? Please don't answer until you are 100% sure, please. I need your help guys.

No it is not illegal, the only thing illegal is if you swap an older engine into a newer car (IE: 95 GSR engine in a 98 Civic).

Default What's up?

I don't live in CA, but I can tell you for sure, there are people with that exact same swap driving around completely legally. I haven't heard any issues about raising the displacement being a stumbling block. Seeya.

it is absolutely LEGAL to have a higher liter over stock, as long as the engine is the same year or newer , and all the smog hoses, etc, are hooked up correctly , and your ecu is from the same year of your engine, and your engine is NOT JDM

JDM engine will not pass visual smog check= illegal to drive in california.......you lucky bastards that dont live in california can get away with having a jdm engine only because your laws are different than ours.....if it werent for the girls here in cali.. id move to oregon and hybrid away.... ok getting off subject here....

reason being the jdm codes are not logged in the computer database and never will be. only engines that are logged in the computer are usdm...... dont be fooled by those liars on Honda-tech about you can legalize a jdm engine in calif. you can not.....

the only other way to have a jdm, car legal in california is if its over 25 years old or you have a skyline bought through Motorex.....

end of story... so go have fun......

Default cool

hey cool dude then i will send it to you then once i get done (in about a month from now..real busy at work)...i can send it to you a coupleof ways:

1. either piece by piece by email?
2. piece by piece by me hostiing a piece?

both above means that you will have to combine the files into one .pdf

3. or i can just send it to you on a cd?

which is what will probably happen....so i will get in touch with you again once its done...

i also have these manuals too if you want to spread the word around these are already hosted, so its an easy download. maybe we can get chris to have a separate area just for this info????? that way everyone gets the great information for FREE!!!

90-93 integra
2002 wrx impreza
91-93 nsx service manual
93-94 rx7
84-87crx
88-91 crx
92-95 which you already have

hey check your link,,, its not working bro....i like your page im going to have to look through it later....

i doubt honda-acura.net will host the manuals since it's illegal to photocopy them and givin 'em out.

i fixed my link.

let me know when you have it. sending it to me via cd would probably be the best option
