Default scratchy sounds from car....

ok... i've notices that recently my cas has been making those sound. it's like a high pitch scratchy sound coming from under then engine bay near the cat. i use to have a greddy evo exhaust and that knocked and vibrated a lot. the sound started happening a couple month after the install. but it comes on and off during idle.

then after reinstalling my stock exhausts... i hear the same sound again after a month later. i've check all the bolts from the cat to the header and from the cat to the rear exhaust piping... but can't really pinpoint the sound. my guess is that it's from the heat shield of the cat, but it's screwed on tightly already, then i'm guess it's probably from the 2 bolts that bolts the cat to the header... but that's bolted to spec as well.

honda dealership quoted me $100 for the diagnosis... even though my car is still under warrenty! :madfawk: so i am hoping someone here may have experienced the same problems or have ideas of what's going on.

also, i get this clunking noise from the right rear side of the car, where i figured it's from the suspension. took that apart, and made sure it's install properly, and everything bolted to specs.. but when i enter my driveway by turning right @ 30mph... the sound appears. some say it's from the trailing arm... but my car only has 23K on it and all the bushings seems ok. so... any idea what else could it be?

sorry for the long post... and thanks for all of your help. i would hate to get butt raped by the dealership and result from them is "i don't know" :madfawk:

yea forgot that, check the bracket that holds the header.....also if you have the car on a lift or maybe even not, try shaking the exhaust and see if you hear the same sound, do you think it could be coming from the cat itself?

i hear the sound coming from the cat and the connection point to the header. also... after driving home from work... while my car sits there... i can hear a lot of weird sounds coming from the cat... like snap, crackle, pop... while it's cooling down.

the snapping and crackling could just be the catalist in cat cooling, i just had a hell of a chirping like your speaking of, it was periodic and or speradic, i looked while jacked up and saw nothing, jigled exhaust and it came from header to cat conection, couldn't tell till i had it on the lift and found it was the 2 bolt hanger on back of block(beside oil filter) had broken and was rubbing together, are you positive that's not it? would look fine until you acctually pull ex. down or unbolt bracket from block

the noises are coming from the connection between the cat and the header. i jiggle it and it made a very similar sound. however, those two bolts are bolted down to spec... so don't know why... gurrrr! i'll have to check on those two bolts u speak of... perhaps that could be it as well...
