Default Results of my D16Z6 compression test. Comments welcome

Well I checked my compression today and this is what I found.

1994 Civix EX D16Z6 95,000 miles

(Facing motor counting from left to right)
#1 210
#2 185
#3 192
#4 190

I tested them all twice and got the same numbers.

The plugs looked pretty normal I think. A little white on the arm (with a TOUCH of red in the middle) and the black electrode was worn down more on the side closest to the arm (sorry about my lack of technical terminology).

So, what does this stuff mean? My book says standard compression is 184 with a max variation of 28. Is there something further that I should investigate with those readings that I got, or am I ok?

Thanks for the time

seems like yur OK, three of them are all around 184, and 210 is within 28 of 184, just curious as to how #1 was so high....

Looks pretty good to me. I'm also curious as to why #1 is higher than the others.

could be carbon build up - I wonder if he checked it with all the plugs taken out of the motor

The test should be done with all the plugs out, as stated before, and with the throttle plate wide open, that will give you more realistic #'s

I pulled all the plugs. Put the gas pedal to the floor and cranked it over until the needle stopped (had a helper).

right on then those should be as correct as they get, was the motor warm? sometimes if my motor isnt ice cold the numbers jump b/c of the tighter clearances when all the metal in the motor starts to expand.
