Default What do you guys think???

Do you know how the B16A2 do with just pistons? I am thinking of buy this CRX with a B16A2 with J&E pistons. Stock rods, stock crank. the pistons are a 8:1 CR. What is the max boost those rods are going to be able to handle. The car has a stand-alone fuel system that is fully-programmable. Is that CR too low? Do you think I could run 15PSI? Thanks for any info on those rods. Take it easy

well if you are planning on boosting, why would that compression ratio be too low, the lower the better right? As far as the rest of the stock internals, Im not sure if those could handle 15psi, but I knew someone who had a turbo b16a2 and it lasted a long time on 10ibs of boost, till cylinder/piston3 went out so that shouldnt be a prob since they put the j/e pistons, but make sure the rest of the stock interns are good as 15psi could be too much for them.....and it depends if this will be a daily driven car, or daily driven 15psi or not.... if you run 15psi ALL the time Im not too confident about the stock rods.....

A lot of people are running around 9:1 compressionwith FI these days, sometimes higher, but if you already have the 8:1's in there, then I would just run those and focus on tuning. You could run 14-15lbs of boost on those internals, but it had better be tuned VERY well. I agree that the rods are probably going to be the weakest link, and it would have been better if forged rods were put in the same time the pistons were, but they should hold if your tuning is up to snuff. I probably wouldn't run 15lbs of boost daily on them, but that's up to you. Whatever you decide to do, your main focus should be on proper tuning.

lower is not better; I wouldn't go lower than 9:1 on a street car

yeah, i guess the CR is 8.5:1 so that is a little better. No I am not going to be running 15 pounds daily. Yeah this is going to be my daily driver and will probably just run like 8 PSI to putt around town in. I drive my cars very nice and dont run the shit out of them. might turn it up to 14 pounds or so on race gas but we'll just have to wait and see. But the computer system is the ZDYNE Gold Computer. I have been playing with it and it seems like a fairly easy system to run. I am okay at tuning but I work at a performance shop and my manager is VERY good with tuning. But it should be a fun little car. It is makes 250 to the wheels I'll be happy. Well, i'll let ya guys know. take it easy.
