no ur stuck with either trying to get more air/fuel into the engine with either forced induction or nos, u can make ur car more efficient with headers, lightened flywheel, better clutch, or make it work easier so it'll crank out a little more power with lightenning internals, u can possibly get a more aggressive crankshaft with larger lobes to crank out more power but i dont know where u'd begin to get started all think of what u want for ur car and start making a plan. cars are expensive, 900 bucks won't take u very far if u want a big power increase, unless u go with nos but then ur getting dangerous if u want alot of power, and ur losing dependablity but hey if its a tradeoff ur willing to take go for it

theyre a retailer that took a spinoff into selling their own line of performance parts. the headers they sell are knockoffs of DC at a greatly lowered price

for practically the same price as a Turbo kit you can swap in an H22a, makes 200 hp stock 40 more hp than your B16 si. Nitrous is bad on engines period, I wont suggest that to anyone. You can try bolt on's, but you wont feel that much of a difference. The best thing I would say for bolt on's are, Fuel pump, Injectors, intake, cat-back, high flow cat, fuel pressure regulator, MSD ignition/cap/rotor/wires, pulleys, and maybe some camgears. Other than those, I definitely say swap it. I had a 99 civic EX coupe that I started swapping in a H22a, but ran out of money, plus the car was damaged, so now I have a 91 civic with a JDM B16a. Im happy with it.

No this thread went to pooo fast. First off, the cost of the turbo will not be the same as a H22 swap. The H22 in a civic would give you more power yes, but it is not a direct swap. You would have to get longer axles and of course some Hasport mounts. Not to mention the added weight of the H22. He could piece together a well turbo rounded kit, for around 2500, give or take a few hundred as apposed to the the 4000+ for the H22 swap.

Nitrous is not bad on engines, with the right appication, proper tuning, colder spark plugs, little play with the ignition timing, and only using up to a 75 shot of wet/dry , nitrous can be a great power addition, while being very cheap.

For the bolt-ons the intake, header, exhuast, high flow cat, and maybe a new intake mani are goin to be the best "bolt ons." After that, he can go to internals. Maybe sleeving his block for the added stress of his turbo, new connecting rods, and forged pistons. He can mess with camshafts if he wants, but if he is going turbo he needs to pick the right ones. Getting upper stage Skunks or other NA cams would not be good for his engine with the boost. Turbo cams are made and if he wanted to spend the money on the cams he could. But i am a little off topic here, he said he didnt want a turbo kit but if he wants to have more power then forced induction is the only way to go.

Some minor, or at least relatively minor things you can do are switching out the header, as has been suggested, and switching your intake manifold. Maybe get a slightly larger throttle body. These are all relatively small upgrades you can do in less than an hour... and upgrades that don't require any more fuel. Your ecm can compensate for them in stock trim. It's not tons of power, but if thats what you're looking for, you're going to invest a lot of time and money. You might also look at suspension mods. They don't make your car necessarily faster, but they do make it more fun to drive... and a lot of people take that aspect for granted when they start modding. You can have as much fun going fast slowly, as you can going fast quickly.
