is there a dif????
pistons, head, cams, valvesprings, intake manifold, tranny, shift linkage(R ones are bronze), axles(99 spec R uses larger diameter axles)
That's off the top of my head, I'm sure others will chime in with other differences.

c'mon inspyral...
The blocks are basically the same, as are the cranks and rods. The Pistons are different (higher dome), in the bottom end, that is pretty much the only difference. Up top everything is different, including the head casting. The head is cast from the same mould as the B16 and given a mild polish and valve job from the factory. The Entire valve train is more high performance, right down to the Lost Motion Assembly, up through the springs, retainers, and down to the camshafts. The intake manifold is of a totally different design. The GsR has a two stage electronically activated for high rpm and low rpm. The type r has a higher performance intake manifold designed with one set of runners for high rpm applications. It also has a little bit of a different header setup in japan featuring a 4-1 design as aposed to the traditional 4-2-1

Last i checked Type R crank was different than GSR crank...
Lower compression heads that the GSR has? Actually last i checked the GSR had smaller combustion chambers than the Type R head, ... . .I think you mean the GSR pistons have less domage than the Type R . . ..
