Default obd2/obd1 b18c1 questions

the car is a 96-97 civic hx, with an obd1 b18c1 and obd2 p72 ecu. using a p2p harness that is rewired to use teh obd1 injectors, alternator, and distributor.
we thought the ecu was a jdm ecu and would ignore the lack of CKF on the engine...turns out we were wrong.
i was wondering if anyone knew any tricks to get around the lack of ckf...BESIDES buying a new oil pump.
I am hoping there is someway i can wire up for signal from the distributor without having a real ckf on the car.

Nowhere in the manuals does it tell you what the signal type is.
