i need help!!
here is my story i posted this on another site didnt really get any help and i have a 93 honda civic si...........does anyone know symptoms of a tranny when its going, not sure if mine is. i had my clutch changed like a month ago, still hasnt even been 500 miles on it. i think my tranny is making noise like some screaching noise not that loud(it could be grinding noise). sounds like mice in engine bay. today my check engine light goes on. i have no idea what this could be? my O2 sensor is brand new! the car still has power, nothing has changed in performance. Can anyone help or have any suggestions. oh and i know i am due for a tune up
i went to the shop that did my clutch, they checked it out. the clutch release was loose. that was the noise that i thought was the bearings. so that stopped, but the other screaching noise is still there. they said it has to be like dirt , because i didnt have that clutch cover(which i dont but i recently got it.) and by not having it, dirt and other stuff got in. to check it out have to bring down tranny again. its just weird because since i had the car, i have never had that cover and i have drove from NYC(where i bought the car) to florida, and never had that problem.
im wondering if he has know idea what he's talking about and just wants to get easy 300 bucks from me or what!
oh and i got stuck today, car started backfiring, left me on the side of the road. i was buying stuff to do a tune up. i had bought plugs and rotor. couldnt find no one that had MSD wires and cap in stock so i had to order them...i changed my rotor and this is what it looks like!! the check engine light is still on and doesnt have power if i rev it to 4 rpm it starts popping(backfiring)
someone emailed me this site to check the code on engine light

yeah i forgot to mention that part i tried doing the codes its a little confusing , from what it tells you on the site and what my car did. on my car there was no steady blinks. only fast blinks first time i got bout 15 blinks(fast) then i did it again and it was only four fast blinks. i have honda civic shop manual(what dealers use), i was looking at the codes on that and what i got pertain to ignition area!

The clutch release noise part made sense, but it sounds like the shop fixed it. What was your question about that? Did the shop put in your old throw-out bearing? That would be kinda silly. Then the 'clutch release' came loose? What's that? The release fork? Throw-out bearing? Or just the release cable?
Well, I suppose you got the MIL codes out of your shop manual, but you don't say what codes you got. That would help. I'm not surprised they have to do with the distributor, seeing how your rotor looked. Maybe the CYP, TDC or something else in the distributor is damaged.

when you pull the codes, is there a break in between when it throws the 15 blinks and the 4 blinks? because that could be it throwing 2 diff codes, and you got 15 short blinks? that is weird cause usually a 15 code will be one long blink worth 10 and 5 short worth 1 each.... but as for the tranny, since its a 5spd it wont really "go out" like a auto would with the torque converter, just parts like clutch, flywheel, bearings or synchros that can be fixed.....
thanks for the replys! i took it to honda dealer, they broke my pocket!!! it was the distributor and it also made the car go off timing...........327.00 just to check and put it back on timing....sucks!! going to be another 400 bucks for new distributor, left car there!
