counter balance belt
hey, i have a 99 lude, base, 5spd, and got done doing the timing belt, tensioner/bearing and some other stuff, was a lil tough but got everything done alright, the thing is, I think I tightened the balancer belt a lil too tight but it still has good slack, but I can hear it a lil bit, is this something to worry about or will it eventually loosen up?
If you can tell that it's a little too tight, loosen it. It's never a good idea to leave a belt excessively tight. It will cause premature wear, accelerate belt stretch, and, well yea, you get the picture. So yea, if you can tell it's too tight by the sound it's making, that's the belt trying to tell you it needs to be a little looser.
also, the counter balance belt seemed to have plenty of slack, and the timing belt's slack is controlled by the auto tensioner, so what Im thinking it could be is the outer belts (power steering/alternator) belts could be a lil too tight.
ahh mine has been doing the same thing making a noise. I had my balance belt and timing belt done and the guys told me it would go away but it hasnt. Its good to know that I can now tell them whats wrong.
hey honda, yurs makes like a "woooo" sound at light revving in neutral like mine? cause mine didnt make it before, I also asked the dealer and they said on my motor the h22, the Tbelt follows a tight pattern by the bottom and that the grooves on the belt need to get worn in, an that it will go away, I will give it some time and see, its not a prob, jus annoying, what is your situation like? an what motor is this on?
