I would use one, because there aren't any shops within 1 hr of me. I think it's like 100/hr up here for a shop.

so 100-115 per hour would not be out of the question for a mobil service?

probably not, do you have any info on it? cause some of the mobil services i have seen have the type of dyno that you jack up the car and take off the wheels and dynos it at the rotors, which tends to exagerate the actual horsepower by about 10-15...

depends on where you are and what's offered in your area. there's a guy here in my area that has an above ground dyno roller system that charges $90 for 3 pulls.

there's another tuner in my area that charges $60 for 3 pulls on an in-ground system.

if there's no one to compete with in your area, more power to you. if there's competition, especially with a reputable tuner, you'll have a hard time unless you can undercut his pricing a good amount... or build up your reputation for putting out some powerful cars or at least assist in building some nice rides.

paying for a dyno is tough... no one in the import world does much dyno tuning cuz they're too cheap. they will TELL YOU they have tuned their ride, but usually it's a lie. only the most serious will properly tune their car.

dynapacks are nice, but can be a pain in the butt for scheduling a lot of cars. if it's cheap enough for you to maintain the costs on your own, more power to you.

if not, i'd suggest a roller system if at all possible. with a roller setup, you can get cars on and off the rollers quickly, of which you could offer a "dyno day" to help get your revenue going. "dyno days" can get you a wad of cash for minimal effort... set aside a day where nothing is going on for you. have a car show or whatnot, and offer dyno pulls for cheap... maybe 2 pulls for $40 or something, or even have a "dyno drag" and get people interested enough to drop $20 for a run.

there's ways to make some money with a dyno, but you can lose money on it quickly if you're not gettin enough peeps to pay for it for you. and like i said with the dynopack, it's difficult to get cars hooked up in a timely manner for events as described above.

i see, but the cost of the dyna pack vers the roller is alot from what i have gathered. and it would not have to run all the time to pay for it...

Well, I for one, would want to get it done on rollers. It wouldn't be cool if my car looked 10-15 hp better than all the other mostly stock Rs.

ok, but if we know this can't we take this in to account?? and are we sure that the 10-15 hp on the rollers isn't lost to friction on the rollers which i have heard about and seen in videos?
