Default RSX head

Just got an RSX type S head in the shop for a little work. First one I have seen and have to say it looks just about as good as th s2k head. I'll sneak it on the flow bench to get some numbers but just wanted to pass along that the new engines appear to have a vastly improved set of lungs.

That's one of the major improvements with the newer Honda engines. It's almost a straight shot from the intake ports to the combustion chambers.

Well the B & D series were out long enough, I sure hope they've made improvements.

Nice! If they only made a 4-door RSX I'd be buying one. As it is maybe the Nissan SE-R comes closer to a replacement for mine...

I think the TSX is about as close as you'll get to a 4 door RSX.

Is that why my iVTEC kicks so much ass? I am also looking forward to seeing some numbers from the flow bench.

no, iVTEC isn't all that much different from regular VTEC. It still works the same. The kick ass part that only apears on the type r and type s is VTC which can advance and retard the intake cam in addition to changing lift and duration.
The real advantage of the K series (versus b-series) comes in the flow numbers on the head, and the fact that it is lighter and physically smaller than the B18 and has a larger bore (very difficult to do while maintaining physical size) which results in larger displacement.

yea, the K-series really breathes a lot better and especially in the type-s because the 6spd gearing always keeps the motor in the right RPM range so if there is any lag you are a few hundred rpms above it on most shifts.

all iVTEC motors have VTC. the difference between the Type-R and S is that they have VTEC on both the intake and exhaust cams instead of the standard iVTEC's intake cam only.
