Default Engine fitting my GS-R ??

Hey all,

Will an engine designed for an Integra Type-R be any larger or have any other specificiations that will hinder its ability to be put into my 97 GSR ??? I have found an enigine that says it was designed for an Integra Type-R... do you see any forseable problems with my buying this and trying to put it in my engine bay???

Thanks for any help you can lend,

Chris

It will fit in your GSR, but quite frankly you would get much more power by spending your money modifying your engine rather than swapping in a Type R engine.

True. A complete Type R (B18C5) swap is likely to run you $5-6K.

If I were you, I'd try and map out what you want to do with the car & what you expect from it. From there, we can help you with choices. Until then, we could throw you ideas until we're blue in the face.

Well... here is the deal... My budget as it stands is pretty liberal (Assuming your not talking about dropping 30k in one week) and my time (I have plenty of it) I thought that is I bought a Type R engine... and then started modding it I would get more power out of it... I know that the difference in stock HP is probably minor... but each HP counts...

So what kind of things should I do.. engine/performance wise assuming I had like 30k to spend over 2 months.... (and don't tell me to get another car that is faster.. I bought the integra TOO go fast

Thanks guys... I am kinda new to engine modding so you will have to bear with my general responses...

Thanks again!

Chris

1. keep your b18c1
2. build engine for boost
3. add turbo
4. tune

keep your GsR. Like you said you bought your GsR to go fast, so why would you pull the engine out of it? How fast do you want to go? Is there a dyno near you there?

The differences between the two lie in cams, pistons, and port and polish. You will be changing all three of those anyway, and therefore neither engine will be better than the other when you are done with them.

We can help you with what you should get after you tell us what your goals are.
