Default how to disable turbo

ok i got this idea the other day but dont know if its possible... if i were to get a turbo, before i went in to get it smoged, is there anyway i could temporarily disable the turbo so it would pass? like can i take a part off that will disable it, so the turbo has nothing to do with smog?

Dude, they pop the hood and do a visual inspection. They will notice a turbo.

I KNOW! You could use some invisible spray paint! h:

AND, just click the turbo switch to off.. that should work.

:chuckles:

I've been trying for about an hour now not to say anything... but I couldn't resist.

Exactly. Unless you have a CARB exempt(read: stock GReddy) kit, you are not going to pass the visual, regardless of what your emissions numbers are.

It's too bad you don't live in MD - no hood poppin' out here, they could care less. You could have 5 turbos under there whirring away, but as long as you fall under emissions specs, you're A-OK.

Oh yeah, Too bad you dont live in florida where they have no hood poppin or emission testing, they could care less if you had a few toxic waste barrels burning under your hood.

Well it's not much of a smog check if it's illegal, now is it?

I'm curious, why do they do a visual inspection when doing a smog check? If the numbers are kosher... why does it matter?

I'm not very familar with smog testing... I don't know what or IF we have any of that here in pennsylvania. h:
