Your mechanic doesn't seem to know much about CTR/ITR cams and boost. The R cams have a lot of overlap, which can be beneficial in N/A applications, but is counter-productive with boost. Turbo-specific cams usually have high lift with little to no overlap.

turbo cams have different profiles than n/a cams, if you are going turbo usually it is best to just use stock cams unless you are going all out, in that case i would look into getting the crower turbo cams or the skunk2 turbo cams. ITR cams with f/i will need a little more tuning and wont be as benificial w/ turbo.

You will gain power, but IMHO not enough to warrant the cost. Go straight for some turbo designed cams. They may be $100 more, but you'll get 2 or 3 times the power gains. Skunk2 and Crower would be my first choices.

Don't forget valve springs and retainers. Turbos have a lot of lift, and that's not OEM spring friendly.

Honestly, most of the turbo VTEC people I know swear by GS-R cams. ITR/CTR's have lots over overlap that needs to be dialed out to make maximum power. GS-R cams are very easy to find and cheap to get in most cases. I'd stay away from the "turbo" cams for VTEC engines. Over GS-R cams I doubt you'll see that big of an improvement. $600 is a large chunk of change to drop just on cams. With the much you could buy rods and pistons.

I myself run turbo cams, but then again i've got an LS engine, the stock cams are ass on LS engines.

If you've already got the setup together and are looking for some more power then you can probably see some gains from turbo cams. If you're just starting off with the turbo I wouldn't bother just yet.
