Default AEM V2 dyno numbers

According to SCC issue March 03 they show on page that on the dyno the AEM V2 on a 96-00 civic dx showed 16.9 hp and 14 lbs or tq.

Now if this is true then man i want to see this on a prelude, GS-R or SI those numbers are unreal.

I wonder if the gains will really be that much. a civic DX probably has a more restrictive stock intake, thus more "gains". A car w/ an freer flowing intake would probably show less gains.

The whole idea behind the V2 is to use the sound energy created by the rushing and sudden stop of the air in an advantageous way to help boost power. It's the same principle behind velocity stacks and carburetor bowls from the 50-70's. In other words, it doesn't really do you any good to compare to a stock intake system, but if you instead compare power output to a similiarly equipped engine with AEM's original intake, you are likely to find an increase of 25-50% to be added of their original design [V2gains= Original +(Original*.25 or .5)]. I'm all for saving money and pointing out false marketing when I see it, but AEM did their homework on the V2, and due to the time they put into mathematical modeling and such, you are not likely to see any rip-offs that come anywhere close to AEM's numbers.

Hmm sounds interesting, would be nice to see a few other dyno's and applications. Anyone around here have it?

I called AEM and asked if they have any plans for the V2 for the prelude... they said if they get enough of a demand for it, right now there's not much demand. Then refered me to check the website for updates. So I skipped on it and got the regular CAI.
