B18C, what year should i get?

Default B18C, what year should i get?

ok i've heard storys about some b18c years being better than others. can someone with knowledge of these engines tell me the difference from 94-01 (whats better). thanks

All the same. In 1996 they got some additional sensors, but nothing particularly useful, especially if you are swapping into an OBD 1 car.

They're generations of On-Board Diagnostics. 92-95 is OBD-I, 96-98 is OBD-IIa, 99-up is OBD-IIb. In general, the later OBD-I is more "forgiving" to engine modifications and the ROM is more easilly tweaked which means easier tuning. For example, to run Hondata, a popular standalone engine management unit, in an OBD-II car, you would have to run an OBD-I ECM and an adapter harness. If you want a swap that will drop right in with minimal wiring hassles, stick with an engine that is the same OBD generation as your car.
