TPS adjustment help needed
TPS sensor has been replaced. therefore, it helps the car with sputtering but the vehicle still runs very rich. I talked to a few mechanics and they all suggested fuel injectors, so im saving up to buy those and hopefully that will permanently fix my fuel problem.
did you check to see if you had the washer under the map sensor?
To adjust your TPS you can use a voltmeter and test the voltage at the ECU with the key in the on position, but the car not running. When the throttle is closed it should read .5 volts and wide open should measure 4.5 volts. If you have a APEXi VFAC you can use it as well, instead of a voltmeter. That will set your TPS.
im having the same problems wit my tps. it reads 2.5 at wide open throttle and my check engine light is on because of it. i was wonder how exactly you are suppose to adjust it? am i jus suppose to tighten or loosen the screws or wat? if so, does 2.5 at wot mean i should tighten it more. i wanna make sure before i strip tat screw. thanks.
The tps sensor can only be adjusted a small bit. If you are experiencing some really bad issues, then it might have to do with some wiring or another sensor fouling. Just installing a new tps sensor, without adjusting it, should fix the majority of a tps problem. The adjusting is done with those 2 screws and helps very little. It's there so you can basically fine tune it.
ok...so i still have a problem.
i have a cel light for tps sensor. playin wit the screws wont make it go away. my idle is approximately 1900 rpm. this morning it was 2.25 for about 15 mins before settling down. the engine seems loud overall and im having to refill coolant every few days. this may be another problem tho. i havent played wit adjusting the timing at all since i put this motor in. these are my choices so far.
1) try a new tps sensor
2) try a new throttle cable cuz i think i may have bent mine
3) if tat dont work, i'll adjust the timing down i guess. i dunno

if you are refilling coolant and it isn't leaking outside the motor it is leaking inside the motor. You could have more problems that a TPS. I have run my B16A for 6 months and never added collant. I would fix the coolant problem first as it could be causing the poor running condition.
