steering
I' found a hose coming from the reservoir going the pump without a clamp on it at the pump.My steering was hard so I was searching for the problem and this is what I found.I replaced the car jacked up the front end and noticed how easy the steering was and then I removed the jack and found hard steering.I wanna drain the system and replace with fresh fluid as well as remove the air from the system. How is this done correctly. The car is a 91 acura integra ls.I've found a junk acura integra 91 and the valve body unit and cover is still intact. That was gonna me my next move as to troubleshooting the hard steering problem.Question the alternator has nothing to do with steering right?
to answer your question, no the power steering has nothing to do with the alternator since it is power by its own pump and belt.... i had a 93 integra where I had the same problem, the steering got hard, but I couldnt figure out why. It finally started making noise from the pump and the pump itself was shot. I picked one up from a junkyard for about 60 bucks because they were way too expensive from the dealer.
I found good instructions on how to flush almost any system on my 4th gen in my Chilton's book. I'm not sure but I would bet that the more popular Helm's books would have that also. $10-20 and that will, probably, answer it.
There's nothing wrong with my steering. Is there a way to make it even easier or should I say more responsive with less play in the wheel?

does it have play when you are moving, staying still, or all the time? If it has play when you are moving wouldnt you need to take the car for an alignment to fix that? Im not sure but thats just the first thing off the top of my head.....
no play just hard steering while parked. While jacked up the steering is normal(easy). The pump is sucking fluid from reservoir plus there are no fluid leaks coming fromsystem fluid level remains constant.Gonna try and remove the guide screw clean & re-adjust.
