Default 87 Prelude Si problem

The tach on this prelude is very erratic, and so therefore it's highly inaccurate. What can I do for that? Thanks for any help.

Are you sure you don't have an electrical problem? If everything checks out, and it is in fact the OEM tach that is inaccurate, you can either find one out of another gauge cluster, or wire up an external tach.
