Default SRR FD 4.7 vs. 4.9

has anyone installed this FD into their d16y8? if so, how was it and by any chance... anyone know the part number for the d16y8? also, what is the difference between the 4.7 vs. 4.9 FD?

I believe they only make one part number for all D series trannies, so I doubt there's a Y8-specific FD. You should be able to use the D series one, though. As for the difference between the two FD ratios, the 4.9 will yield shorter gearing.

so would the shorter gear yielding be better or the longer?

Shorter gearing means quicker accelleration, but more frequent shifting and a lower top speed. If you go with gearing that is too short, your cruise RPM on the freeway is going to be higher, and you may run the risk of overheating.

Uh, like I said, the 4.9 FD would yield shorter gearing than the 4.7. If that's what you want, then go for it.

there is no real part# on the 4.7 and 4.9 you just have top specify which you want.
since we are in the same subject. we are completing the GB on this as we speak. so let me know if interested.

if you do alot of hwy driving.. the 4.9 wouldnt be a good idea.
