Default Civic AWD??

I was just curious if anyone has ever thought of this before. I've seen a few threads of people making the CRV-TEC engines, but has anyone tried to make a fully AWD Civic hybrid? Since it's possible to but the CRV-TEC engine in a Civic, would it be possible to put on the drivetrain as well? To me this would be the ultimate hybrid job because you'd be able to build up the engine to well over 200hp plus the addition of AWD and you'd have a car that could compete with the WRX and the soon to be available EVO. Opinions and comments welcome.

The CRV has a really weak rear diff and axle. In theory its possible, but I doubt it would hold much power.

So there's my answer, it is possible. I don't think it would be possible with the older model civics though, depending on wheel base and length.

Those rear CRV axles are toothpicks.

You'd have to do a lot of work. At one time I wanted to transform my GS into a GSX (yes it's an Eclipse) but after researching what all I had to do I decided it wasn't worth it.

take a look at the old 4wd civic wagons. the drivetrains wont hold a whole lot of power, but turboing up to say, 200 hp, is feasible.

Sure they might hold up to that power, but would they hold up to an awd 5k rpm clutch drop?

you know i had almost that same idea only i was thinking to put the drivetrain from the old AWD civic wagons into my 90 Crx Si. the think that is stopping me is that im not exactly sure if that would work for one, and i've never seen how the setup is under the car, (like the drive shaft placement). also i was wondering is the transmission on those is all time AWD or just in low gear? i hope someone out there can help me. it would be much appreciated. thanks!
