some some q's for you guys on the know how!! i got a 97 civic ex and i'm thinkin' hard about gettin' an h22a and havin' this local shop install it for me! so here is the q's

1. I got OBD II is there an h22a w/ OBD II?

2. If so, what year?

3. If not, then how hard and what would i need to do to make this swap work?

4. Is the h22a type s worth the extra money??

from what i gather the h22a has 200hp and the h22a type s has 220hp.

much thanx

and if any body has any info on putin' the new RSX Type R K20a into my year model civic it would be much welcomed!!

don't think there is such a thing as non obd.. there is only obd 1 or obd 2 ... obd 2 is on 96+ vehicles and obd1 is on everything below.. right??

Well... My 90 DX is obd1 then... I guess? I thought it was non obd. I know for a fact that there ARE non obd honda's, like in the 70-80 models.... Im prety sure some of those are non obd..... Some one in my auto shop has a 73 civic! It runs great to! Its actualy pretty zippy for the fact that its a carberated 4 banger!

Unless you plan on tube framing your front end, the chances of getting an H22 in your 90 DX are slim to none.

1. 96+ are all obd2

2. see 1

3. see 1

4. if you can afford might as well go for it...if not then i wouldnt worry too much about it, its more of a prestige thing than real performance.

all h22's are 92+, they are all obd1 or obd2, 91 and earlier civics are non obd or obd0 depending on what you want to call it...

dont forget there is a version of obd3 on the newer cars

to put an H22 into your civic you're gonna need a mount kit.

www.placeracing.com
www.hasport.com

both make a kit for H22 swaps into civics

its easy to rewire you civc harness for an obd1 h22 motor.. if you can do a swap you might as well do it your self..its easy..it fits pretty decent actually..the swap me and my friend did he used hcp mounts in his ek hatch and it worked perfect...now the type s vs the normal h22 i dont have a clue..if you wana pay the extra do it.. if not just save the extra money for bolt ons or get an lsd equiped tranny. using the obd1 ecu in your car will only cost you 250 more for the jumper harness and then the time in converting the harness over..which only includes the distributor and the injectors... youll then add the injector resistor box unless you use 97+ lude injectors. as well as the egr
