2002 3.2 VTEC cam timing
Newbie here, I’m attempting to setup the cams (Stock) in a 2002 3.2 vtec engine. I have the crank @TDC on cylinder #1. The rear cam gear (firewall side) has one mark on it which I have lined up with the casting mark in the head. The front cam gear (radiator side) has a mark for each cylinder labeled 1-6. Which one of these marks should line up with the casting mark in the head? Currently 5 does. My assumption is #1 should be. Is this correct? I attempted to move it the #1 mark but the valves hit the piston. If I need to move it to #1 is it as simple as moving the crank a bit to allow the valves to clear until I get the #1 mark lined up with the casting mark? Any help/input would be appreciated.
