Default interesting k series swap dilemma

hey all, i was just reading the new SCC and their k-series hybrid how -to and one of the things they said was that the security chip in the key must match the ECU. in order for the car to start. so if you put an RSX-S ecu in the car, you have to provide the acura dealer proper documentation showing that you acquired the engine legally for them to give you a new key to start the car.

interesting, eh?

Its a great idea that should have been thought of a long time ago. Imobileizers are not a new thing, honda just took a while to incorperate them i guess, lol.

Then a would-be thief would have to carry around an ECU with the immobilizer program removed. Then he'd remove yours, hook his up, and be on his way. If they want it, they'll get it. If I were to be in this profession, i'd just buy a tow truck. Hook ya up and take off.

its still more complicated than just hotwiring it, and it adds precious seconds to the theft. extra time to steal means extra chances to get caught...
