Need help on turbo build!!
Ebay is a scary place, I bet those $189 blue light special turbos are great for maybe 1k miles....or maybe some last, I've seen some XSPower stuff that has done great...for them, but I wasn't gonna take the chance, after getting some info from users here at HAN.
I have got a general consensus that ebay charge pipes, couplers and intercoolers aren't bad, mine have worked great! Their round, shiny, stainless, nice blue silicone couplers, t-bolts....it all works like any pipe and clamps should and it was cheap. I figured stainless pipe was stainless pipe, what the hell.
I didn't cheap out on the important stuff, ie, turbo, bov, wg, ecu, injectors...need that stuff to be working properly, lol. Wideband was important, need that for a good solid tune anyways, then I can moniter it continuosly and not worry about a crummy narrowband lying to me.
Now I did a little bit on the T3 mani and intake mani, got the intake at a good deal and I needed on asap, T3 mani wasn't the best, but it allowed me to keep my power steering. I took the AC out because it was broken anyways :squint:
Oil line is an earl's braided off ebay, nice stuff actually. Return fitting on the pan is a bolt-on type, I was hesitant, but it works great, I bolted it with lock washers and lock-nuts with nylon inserts, hard gasket and jb-welded around the outer edge. Return line is just that HD transmission line from NAPA, kinda spendy, but works great, clamped with ordinary auto clamps.
My exhaust is a 2.5" Megan system with gutted cat, one resonator and the 4" muffler with 3.5" tip. Again, not the greatest, but pipe is pipe, I wan't to go 3" with a GReddy EVO2 Tip, that would be a nice upgrade for me. But for now, it works good, sounds nice, no bumble-bee BS.
All in all, I like my setup, can't wait to take it out of the garage and tune the sucker, but I may upgrade my exhaust manifold to and SMS or some type, it's probably the cheapest (and maybe the weakest) link in the whole setup. And the dumptube I had a shop in the valley do looks GHETTO! Can't beleive I paid for it
Time to take it of and grind the shit out of it til it looks decent and powder coat it!
