boost w/ stock pistons/rods&1mm gasket?

Default boost w/ stock pistons/rods&1mm gasket?

I have a D16Z6 with a 1mm head gasket and stock pistons/rods.With the FMIC what is a good max boost to run.I have been running 6psi since before the new gasket but what to go higher.Any input would help.

I may also add water injection AND a 5th fuel injector.Do you think the stock rods would hold 12psi?

What's your fuel seteup? Stock rods are like toothpicks, so 12lbs is going to be pushing it a little, even if your tuning is spot-on.

I'm running the greddy kit with 12:1 FMU and a highflow in-tank pump.I also added a block guard to be safe.

Ooh, the first thing you need to do if you plan on continuing to run the 12:1/stock injector setup is to get an inline pump. If you up your boost any further, your intank pump, while good at putting out large volumes, will not be able to produce the high pressures needed by the FMU at higher-than-stock boost levels. I personally would not run a 12:1 setup at anything higher than about 8-10lbs of boost because of the extremely high fuel pressures alone. If you try to run 12lbs of boost on a 12:1 FMU/stock injector setup, there's a pretty high chance of your injectors failing. If your base fuel pressure is 40psi, and you run 12lbs of boost, your FP under boost is 184psi(40+[12x12]=184) which is insanely high, and even the best inline pumps may not be able to generate that kind of pressure, let alone an intank pump. At 10lbs of boost with a 40psi base FP, you'll be seeing 160psi of FP under boost. At 8lbs of boost, you'll be seeing about 136psi of FP under boost, which is still pretty high, but a lot better than 160 or 184psi FP's. You could switch to 310cc injectors and an 8:1 disc for the FMU to lower your FP and your stock ECM should still be able to idle them. Of course the best option is to go with larger injectors and a good standalone unit, and keep your intank pump. This is the best tuning option, and if you have a blockguard, there's a guy named Nathan who lives in Thailand who has boosted his stock D16Y8 block to 1.2BAR on B16 rods, Supra(forged) pistons, a blockguard, and a standalone unit. He's actually selling the rods and pistons now, and the rods are machined on the small end to fit the pistons and they come pre-assembled, I believe. This is a good low-buck alternative to getting aftermarket rods/pistons.
