intermitant tapping - 96 accord V6
Looking at a 96 accord with 140k, 2.7L v6. at first startup it sounded like a tapping comming from the engine, almost like a chugging sound....not really loud, but noticeable, then out of no where it stopped. then it latter started again.
i was told this could possibly be the timing belt, and that it more then likely was.
what do you guys think?
also, if it is the timing belt, how difficult are they to install? i havn't worked on a honda engine, but i know my way around GM engines doing things like rocker installs, heads, intake manifolds and such. something that can be done in a garage? or honda dealer only kind of thing? i know the difficutly depends on the car, thats why i ask.
any help appreciated.

i dunno i had an accord that was doing that same exact thing then one day i started up and started driving down the road and a rod shot right out...id take it to get ti looked at atleast...they got those little hearing things doctors use on your chest and can put it up against the block and listen. (thats just my experience though)
its wierd...it starts with this chug chug chug chug sound comming from what sounds like the rear head. it start quiet and keeps getting louder and louder and then it stops, then starts soft again getting louder and louder.
keeps repeating that, cycles last about 3 minutes or so.
