Default Starter Problem

I just finished a clutch and cv halfshaft install in my 94 Civic DX from the DIY post "https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/showthread.php?t=139802" Everything went well and the vehicle ran and started great 3-4 times. Now when I go to start the engine, the starter is grinding at the flywheel. I took the starter out and had someone try to start the engine, the solenoid pops the gear out and it spins. I even took the starter to autozone and they tested it. According to their machine that tests it, it passed. I hate to think something went wrong with the flywheel. The teeth all look fine, and it feels like it is still in there tight when being pried with a screwdriver. I have heard of starters not poping out the gear strong enough so that it wont engage the flywheel, is this possible? I am lost, and would hate to tear the engine apart again.
