Default Need help on a chipped ecu ASAP...

I hate paying people to do what looks like something I can do, I have all the correct tools, and am capable, but have never done this...now I bought a chip for my P28, did the w/ instructions, and the ecu will not rev past 4000 rpm Please someone help me, the only problem I can see is that I was shipped (2) 104 capacitors and the instructions call for (2) 103. Is this THAT much of a difference? Please, anyone that has chipped an ECU tell me what I'm doing wrong. I feel stupid. I can normally do anything I want to do and feel that this is an easy fix but I need some guidance from someone who has done it allready, thanks.

Sounds like a bad chip, maybe you shocked it.

if you handled it with rubber gloves then most likely the static in the glove hurt it. the other factors is the heat range of the gun you used to solder it in. or wattage if you want.but either way the chip is dead. just cut the J1 crossover and the ecu should go back to stock.

I installed sockets so the chips could be changed, I didn't heat the chips, could it be the capacitors? 104 compared to teh required 103?
If I did shock it, how could I go about not doing that next time? Any special precautions?

Was it the capacitor?
