Default tech help

I have a 97 del sol that I circle track track race. The car is cutting out after a few laps. I shift into forth and then it doesn't cut out, I then shift back into 3 gear and the the car doesn't cut out anymore but is really down in power. Sounds like timing really goes off or someting. Is it possible the computer has a safety built in because of the sustained rpm. This is different from the rev limiter, have hit that also. Thanks for any and all help

What do you mean cuts out? Does it turn off or is the throttle not responding when you step on the gas??? What if any are the mods that you have done to the car??

could have something do do with the fuel system possible your fuel pump, your Idle air control valve. Check your battery cables as well. i cant think of any other reasons why it would shut-off at that point?! anyone else know?
