Common Swap D16Y8 to B16
Hi, I currently have a SOHC D16 engine and want to swap it with a DOHC B16 vti engine, wat else would i need along with the engine? i.e. ecu, gearbox, driveshaft, manifold, downpipes?
I've read that the engine alone will do, but the guy at the scrap yard said i would need all the above parts. Would really appreciate any info as my current engine is blown and car is off the road till i manage to sort something out.
Thanks again.

engine
tranny
mounts
axles
shift linkage
luckily for you the car is already wired for vtec. you'll have to wire in a knock sensor though unless you use a chipped ecu in which case you can disable it.

Hi, according to the engine swap resource thread the only thing that will need changing is the engine, mounts and wiring harness.
Im really confused as theres so many different opinions out there.
The current D16y8 engine revs up to 8000rpm and the B16a2 revs 1000rpm more (up to 9000rpm), so im not too sure whether or not to change the transmission.
Also will the distributor need changing?
And it also says that the wiring harness needs to be modified... how so?
Sorry for repetitive questions, not had much luck at all.
Thanks alot.

if you're revving a d16y8 to 8000rpm, stop. b16's in stock form do not rev to 9000. a d series tranny will not be compatible with a b series engine. you will have to change the transmission. use everything that comes with the b16.
