dont even bother. a b16 in a dc chassis is stupid idea. a b16 with an ls tranny in a dc chassis is even worse.

btw, there is no b16a1.

125 shot of nos broke ring landings and ruined cylinder walls and head, now i want to use the car to drive everyday for work. so figured if i cant get a vtec for same price or less i will do that even if i have to use the ls tranny. i was just wandering if it will even work?

The B16 is a poor match for the DC chassis. I would highly recommend against it.

Moved to Engine Swaps.

If you are strapped for cash, it will be a lot cheaper to pull your current engine, remove the head, replace the pistons, have the cylinders bored and honed, and the head fixed.

Also, LS motors are cheap, so you should be looking for one of those instead of an underpowered B16.

But to answer your question, it will work, but it will be a slug.

if your strapped for cash you can get a whole ls motor for $400 to $600 and have money left over. go to a junk yard especially if you're just using it to go back and fourth to work.
