Default Weird whining noise from under hood

When i start my car up she starts to whine..or squeal, but when the car is warmed up then she seems to be fine. I want to say its the belts but when i check them they are tight and snug..any suggetions on what it may be. It is a 01 accord sedan dx model. Thank you in advance

Put some belt dressing on the belts. Or even spray some water on them. If that makes any difference, you know it's time for new belts.

Even tho they look good, old belts get hard & 'slippery'. Don't over-tighten them (to stop slipping) because then you tear up alternator bearings, etc.

do NOT put belt dressing on it. replace the belts if you haven't in the last 10k miles, they're cheap and i'll save you the headache

Not for a permanent fix, anyway. I suggested it as a way to show whether the belt was responsible for the noise. Belt dressing sorta works OK but not for long. You have to keep using it more often as the belt hardens with age & that's just not a good idea.
