Default Gimme Your Opinion (Turbo Guys)

Well let me know what you think about this turbo I am going to run.

Turbonetics 60-1
T3./t4 Turbo
63 AR Turbine
.60AR Compressor housing.
stage 3 Wheel
5 Bolt Exhaust

I will be running this on a LS motor (In my EG). Stock right now, but I have another block I am building. I have almost all of the parts at my house, I am just missing some small stuff. How do you think this setup is going to stack up. I plan on upgrading to a RamHorn manifold in the future. I am not in make beleive land. I just want to know if the turbo is a goo size to run. Because I don't ALWAYS want to be in boost, it is my daily driver.

I will also have ARP Headstuds on it.

JG Fab Tubular Log Manifold
JG Fab Dumptube
3" DownPipe
Tial 38mm Wastegate
Hondata S300
RC 550cc Injectors
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM FPR
-3AN Feed
-10AN Drain

same turbo im running on my y8, pushes alot of cfm, i dont start to spool till 3100 - 3200 rpm, its too big to spool when not under load, so dont plan on sitting at a stop light reving up your engine and plaing on hearing your bov. I hit full boost at 5500 rpms and the hp increase is increadable per lb of boost, i would however recomend that if you use a 3" dp dont go any larger then 2.5" on the ic piping or the lag will be worse, btw you dont need the fuel rail or the fpr

Well, I know I don't need it, but I am getting both of them for like 25 bucks. So I figured I would throw it on.

Anyways, what EMS are you running? Because I was going with Hondata S300, and I know there is a function where you can build boost at the line. So I was wondering if that would work for me for my BOV. I like the sound, lol.

im not really sure about the launch control
Maybe I'm just too oldschool and used to racing with traditional V8's, but a "launch control" operates a transbrake so that auto trannies can rev up into the powerband for a good launch. Never heard of a transbrake being used on a Honda...
Also, if you're racing at a local track, certain race classes don't allow this to be used. As for street use, there's not much point in it unless you're playing "red-light racer" all the time

Hahahah, that is the "old school" coming out...

No, the launch control he's talking about operates just like a transbrake, in that it enables the engine to rev up into the powerband, but it is an electronic rev-limiter not a mechanical brake, used only when the car is at a stop. With cROMe and Uberdata, which are tuning software programs, they have an option for a launch-control, where the rpms of the engine are held at say 3krpms, to enable very consistent starts and more power off the line. Mainly used with Turbo setups to build some boost pressure, so the car is able to launch off the line as opposed to lagging (with small-displacement Honda motors, torque is low, so off the line starts are where Hondas suffer)...

Thanks, mberndt, for clearing that up. I was scratching my head trying to picture a Honda with a transbrake and linelock... LOL!
I'll have to go back into my AEM software. I'm running an AEM EMS 30-1040 in mine, but never really noticed a launch control feature... Now I'm kind of curious how this kind of launch control 'suspends' the tranny so that the rpms can be raised without burning the tranny.

your aem ems should have launch control and traction control. all it is really is a second rev limit that hold's the rpm's at a desired rpm when at a stop with the clutch down and the gas floored.

I see... I was thinking A/T. When I think 'launch control' I automatically picture a powerglide and transbrakes... (there's that damn oldschool again).
I doubt I'd ever have the need to use the launch control feature of the EMS, since this is really just my 'weekend cruiser', but it is nice to know that feature exists...
