Help with replacement engine please
Hi all,
I have a '99 Civic Si that is in need of a motor. I am having a hard time finding an OBD2 B16 though. I was wondering if some of you who know more about this sort of thing would post some opinions of an OBD1 motor swap and opinions of an OBD2 B18c swap. I am just going to use the car as a driver and maybe for some autocrossing here and there.
Thanks so much for your help! I appreciate it!

You are right, it is illegal, and while it is not a problem for OBD-1 cars with Pre-obd or OBD-0 motors, it can be a major problem for OBD-2 cars...
I would say go with an OBD-2 GSR swap. You won't be disappointed.
I'm not too worried about emissions because here in Indiana, there is not any emissions testing.
I was mainly concerned about converting the wiring and sensors that the OBD2 has ans the OBD1 does not have. Does anyone know what exactly that would entail?

I think if you get a obd1 ecu (the appropriate one for whichever motor you will use) and the obd 2 to obd1 conversion harness, you can just plug in the sensors that you have and the plugs left unplugged will not throw check engine lights. Thats what I heard, someone else should confirm.
Can someone confirm this? I have heard something similar, but I don't know where to find one or if it is true that this harness will work without any check engine lights.
Thank you all for your responses!
