LS/VTEC Timing Belt???
Was I supposed to use a different timing belt for LS/VTEC? I bought an LS one and I'm trying to use it... it's just not happening. U can align the cams perfectly, put piston one at TDC and the belt will not go on without moving the cams a little... they will still appear to be TDC until you turn through a couple revolutions and then timing is off by roughly 1 tooth on the cam gears... To the Retard side. not advanced.
Someone help my fat ass figure this mess out. lol
Thanks.

Use an ITR timing belt.

What water pump are you using LS or GSR? If your using the LS water pump you need the LS belt and if its the GSR pump you need the gsr belt. The belt might give some trouble even if you have the right belt for the pump. YOu need to move the belt around and make sure the tensioner is all the way loose.
LS water pump.
Anyhow, the tensioner, to my knowledge, is all the way loose... I can move it down if I push real hard with my hand... Should I push it all the way down then tighten the bolt down or just leave the bolt loose so the tensioner can move up and down?
Thanks again,
Harry

When i put my belt on i left the tensioner loose. I also had a hard time getting it on i had the marks and everything lined up but it still wouldn't fit also. What i did was make sure the belt at the bottom crank pully was tight (by pulling it up ) and than started to make the loop around the tensioner. I hope you understand what im saying its a little hard to explain than showing.
Ok... Also... Piston #1 is at TDC if u look down through the head and the top of the piston is within 1/2-inch from top... and the white mark on the crankshaft pulley lines up with the little line on the timing belt cover... is that all correct?
