Default D16A6 idle questions, and also wierd smell

My 91 CRX Si idles fine, but sometimes when I let it idle down, like when I'm coming up to a stop light, the idle drops waaaaay down to like 100 rpm. The tach barely registers. Then the engine slowly comes back up and stays right at 750 where it should. Also, I have the idle screw on the throttlebody turned as far in as it will go in order to get the idle down to 750. Anyone have any ideas as to why I need it so far in? Is that normal? Anyone know why it drops way down when I let it idle down? What kinda things should I check for?

Also, sometimes immediately after I turn the engien off, the car just stinks to high hell. Smells to me like the catylitic converter is prolly shot. It's a real strong smell, like a mix between gas and something else. Does that seem like it's the cat? I have no idea when it was last replaced, it's probably due. Anyone know of good stock-size catylitic converters? I've heard Carsound is good. Thanks guys

I guess it's just us I'm just gonna replace the cat and see what happens. At least then I can tell if it needs it, and at the very least, my car has a fresh cat and will pass smog with flying colors.
