Default Possible engine swap

Have an opportunity for a local engine tranny purchase for my daughter. This is the add. Im not sure but guessing it came out of a 2 door Civic but was a swap for the original motor and the car got totalled. Worth my time?

"Honda D15B with Si Tranny & New Clutch - $800,This motor has 31,000 miles on it, 5-speed manual transmision has 90,000 and the clutch has 1,000. The '92 Civic hatch was wrecked in March '05 and many other parts were removed and are available for sale. Runs great."

Let me know your thoughts. Im sure I can get him down on the price...Thx Jack

i'd expect to pay that for a b-series-- and it seems to have had more than a few modifications done to it.

whats wrong with your daughters car?

Daughters car has 200k on the lower end and the head was rebuilt a yr or so ago with an automatic transmission. I want to speed the car up a bit and the local motor may give me a chance to build something over time and then drop it in. If the current motor holds up it will get body work and a repaint possible by spring/summer...

Motor currently runs fine in the 93 DX....Jack

well-- i dont know what to suggest.

the thing is that there are many other cars that offer more for your money, if you are just trying to speed it up a bit you are on the right track, but the D-series isnt really anything special and you probably wont see much of a difference--

the only ideal modification would be to swap it out for a b-series, i'd suggest a b20 because it will give the car a considerable kick in the ass over the d-series and still afford a good ammount economy
