Default Need Auto DOHC engine w/ trans

i blew a home in my sohc Ex engine, and i figured that since i still need a new engine, i might as well get a dohc engine. i heard i need a new trans if i get a dohc. and a ecu, w/ axles, right?

i have an automatic ex, what is the best engine for it. i heard an si engine wont work since the si's come with a manual trans. anyone know were i can get a cheap but goo engine w/ trans?
-Thanks

First off u can use the same ecu if you get it reflashed. Second you can use a si motor with ur transmission but si is still a single cam unless ur talking about 99-00 si then thats b series. You have to buy new stuff and modify the engine harness you have to run like 3 more wires. If I was you I would drop a gsr in it thats my favorite b series stock I like all motor better then turbo its just what you like and what your going to do like autocross, straight drag, touge, street courses or just stupid on the street. There is alot of options just do what you like. if you don't know research and find a motor you like

will the engine brackets from my sohc work woth the gsr engine if its from a sohc to a dohc?

what year is your ex? make sure you get the right motor 94 to 95 are obd1 and 96 and up is obd 2 make sure you use the right ecu gsr is a dohc but thats my opinion what are you trying to do with your can touge, course track, drag, street, autocross, or just giving it hell around town, theres alot of options i'll help you out but you got to forgure out what you want to do first

Default more question about engine swap

ok, i have a automatic civic-97 ex, coupe. i know about the obd2 thing. im thinking of getting a engine, trans, ecu and the axles from a automatic 96 ls integra. do u think $2,ooo is a good price? its got 40k on it. thats with shipping. im trying to add some power to my civic but im not exactly a rich-boy> its not for drags, just for some illegal street races, like downtown..

if you get any b series vtec engine you'll have to convert to manual. thats a whole lot of extra money. if you want a dohc and want to stay auto, get a b18b or b20b/z.

I remember a guy in my old car club had a 97 ex with a Jdm b16 and a auto tranny. Its different from the Us version and has shorter gears for better performance. I say b16a2 and a jdm auto trans...if you want a auto .
Try a b18b with an auto tranny!

because no b series VTEC came with an auto tranny in the states and vtec with an auto is no fun. :a:

there were b series vtec's that were auto in jdmland, but good luck trying to find one of those.
