Default will a B16A2 computer work on a.....

We are doing a conversion on a 98 civic. We are changing the 1.5 to the B16A. We are wondering if a computer with the numbers: B16A2 will work on the B16A engine?
Thank you in advance and have a great day!

It will work just fine, but the 99-00 Civic Si is OBD2b, so it won't plug into your 98 OBD2a harness...assuming that is where you are getting it from. If it is from a Del Sol B16A2, it will just plug in.

Thank you. I am doing this conversion for a friend and am just not too familiar with Hondas yet. Hasn't been too bad getting it bolted in, just down to all the "fun" stuff. lol
The car is a 98 civic that had a 1.5 now It has the 1.6 (B16A) in it, I have the clutch conversion kit, just lacking the computer and am wanting to make sure we purchase the correct one, as there are no returns on them.

it all depends on which B16A2 if it's a USDM 99-00 Si it will work fine but will not plug into the 96-98 because it's OBD2a and the 99+ are OBD2B the plugs will fit but the pin out is diffrent so either a adapter is used orreplace 1 plug and repin the other 2 plugs . also the 99+ cars the EVAP system is diffrent so CE might come on if you dont swap those parts.

I don't think the engine is a first generation. It is a 99. The car it is now sitting in is a 1998. I'm just trying to decide what computer I need for that engine.

if it's a b16 from a 99, why would you need a clutch conversion? :eh:
